Hey guys, our little holiday cottage now has its first roof timbers thanks to @b.white_bespoke and our building contractors 🥰 We made the crucial error of assuming the roofers would be putting the rafters on but it turns out they’re not so it’s a race against time to get them on for Monday 😂 yet again we’ve been saved by the builders 🙏🏼 I’ll be posting a new video next week so you can all catch up on what we’ve been up to 🥳 Progress is being made here now and tomorrow we’ll finally have electricity back to the commercial side of the site, including the campsite & shower block 💚 We’re still aiming to open in April, but we’re taking bookings for May to give us some leeway - anyone who’s watched grand designs knows things never make it on schedule 😂

Hello everyone, it’s been a while… mainly because there has been little to no progress here until now 😞 We are finally able to start sharing some updates with you, starting with tackling the holiday cottage. UPDATE: Now the dust has settled, we’re in the process of organising the next steps. We’re keen to begin rebuilding asap so we can see you all again! For now we wanted to confirm that we will be closed until 1st September. This date may be extended but depends on many factors and we remain optimistic. We’ve sent an email to all customers with arrival dates on or before 31st August with further details. Please check your inbox including spam/junk folders. Updates on refunds have been sent out. Hello campers & glampers. Earlier today we discovered a fire in our barn. Unfortunately the fire took hold so quickly that nothing could be done and it has destroyed our biomass boiler, electrics and just about everything we need for our business to operate. As well as the barn, our holiday cottage has been completely destroyed. Thankfully, nobody has hurt and everyone is now safe back at home. As of now, we have no business and we can’t accept any new bookings or fulfil existing bookings. Those who have bookings will be contacted individually. This is going to require a large insurance claim which will take time. As a result of this, we cannot comment on the status of refunds. If you have travel insurance, please exercise it. If not, you will need to be patient with us. We are a small business and we don’t have millions of pounds in the bank, but we will make sure everyone is seen right. Finally, the fire crews from Derbyshire and Staffordshire have been absolutely incredible. Without their hard work and equipment, mum’s house most definitely would have gone up in flames. They prevented that from happening and we are infinitely grateful ❤️

I just wanted to let our campers know that Meg the collie dog has crossed the rainbow bridge today 🌈 Most of you will know her as the old three legged dog that roamed around the site stealing kids’ footballs and rummaging through the bins, but before that she was a loyal companion to Frank the farmer who loved her dearly ❤️ Over the last two years she has become a characterful and welcome addition to the campsite, especially for the children who she really loved playing with and receiving cuddles from. Thanks to each and every camper who invited her into their awning and allowed her to play with their children. She really loved that more than anything 💞 It was a pleasure giving you a fun two years Meg, thanks for bringing joy into our lives and helping us round up the chickens when they escaped. You’ll be missed dearly 🐕 Fly high sweet girl 💜💕🧡

A cold but beautiful day for us today ☀️ the site seems so quiet without anyone here. We’re having some work done to our shower block at the moment, we have to keep those standards high! 🥰 you can expect brand new shower fixtures and quality shower heads when you next stay, as well as newly extended hardstanding pitches. While we’re closed (until 26 Jan), we can accommodate people if you don’t need our toilets and showers so just get in touch. Otherwise, our bookings are open for 2024 so get booked in now to avoid those busy dates getting booked up 😊 we’re already starting to look busy for February half term! For now let’s hope the weather stays like this ❤️

We're a winner! 🥳 We're pleased to announce we've won @campsitesuk 's Best Caravan Park (East Midlands) for 2023 😁 It's always gratifying to be chosen for one of these awards and it makes our hard work worthwhile. We've also had a wonderful new team in 2023 (yes, Amber & Matt we're talking about you), and of course our long-standing team members - Jane & Les - who have always been amazing. Without these guys it wouldn't be possible to maintain our standards, so a thank you to our team ❤

We have some lucky guests checking into our lovely yurt today ❄️ how wonderful to sit by the fire and dip into the hot tub with a view of the snow 😍 it’s absolutely the best time of year for a countryside getaway 🔥 you wouldn’t believe how warm our little yurt gets, it’s insulated with a thick layer of Mongolian yak wool! 🥰

It’s going to be another stunning day today, we’ve had our first teeny tiny sprinkling of snow ❄️ I really love this time of year 🥰 we have a few hardy campers here and we have quite a few on this weekend but we do still have some space if you want to catch some of this beautiful winter sun ☀️❤️

Just back from a gorgeous moonlit walk with the dog 🐶 stunningly clear skies and a nip in the air… winter is coming but that’s a great excuse to put the fire on a make a roast! 🥰 …and of course have a glass of wine 🍷

Wow it’s absolutely stunning this morning 😍 we’ve had our first real wintry frost and it’s crisp and beautiful out there - not a cloud in the sky ☀️ It’s definitely the best walking weather. This photo was taken on our walk to Hartington via Beresford Dale - one of our most favourite walks from the site 🥰

We have a gorgeous sky this morning 🌅 I feel like we haven’t posted on our social media for ages.. too long probably! The truth is that things are always so busy for us that Instagram and Facebook end up taking a back seat. Yet again we are busy with more upgrades and improvements - it just never stops here! We are open all year, however we are closing for 3 weeks in December and 3 weeks in January - this is due to various works in our shower block. We are open for Christmas and New Year as normal. If you have your own on-board facilities and don’t need the shower block, we are still able to take bookings over phone & email with a 30% discount during these weeks so just give us a shout 😊 otherwise, we’ll see you in February and beyond. ❤️

It’s been a beautiful day today, perfect for a walk around @tittesworthwater which has wonderful views over the Roaches, followed by some lunch in the cafe there which has a lovely view over the reservoir 😊 It’s great for kids, they had a pumpkin trail and they have activities and events on throughout the year for kiddies. It’s also just a lovely peaceful place for a walk 💕

Meg the three-legged collie loves sitting in the middle of the road protecting the ponies and chickens 🐓 the chickens are her favourite and she bolts out of the door to check on them in the morning ❤️

Happy Autumn Equinox, and what a beautiful evening we’ve been blessed with 🥰 Did you know we hold small celebrations each cross-quarter & quarter. We’re pleased to share that Gracie the rather poorly hedgehog has now come home 🏡 we kept her in for the first night or two with plenty of food but checked on her this morning and she had gone 😊 we hope she is able to find her hedgehog family and that she’ll thrive from now on 🦔 a massive thank you to Kirsty at @ashfordsanimalrescue for nursing Gracie back to health, and thank you to the campers who brought her to Reception ❤️

⭐️ We’re super excited to share that we’re now officially stocking the stunning @onawick products in our little campsite shop ⭐️ On a Wick and a Prayer are a candlemaker based in Tissington, just a short drive from our site 🕯 Annie Maulding, it’s founder, has an incredible repertoire of over 40 fragrances which she sells from her lovely workshop and shop in Tissington. She and her family have been making candles, wax melts, reed diffusers and more for over 25 years 🤩 We have a long history with On a Wick as we’ve used their reed diffusers in our shower block and holiday cottages since the very beginning - they are what make our facilities smell so good 😍 A small selection of their wonderful products are available in our campsite shop, but their full collection is available to purchase online or in Tissington village 😁 The reed diffusers have been so popular that we only have one left! What gorgeous weather we’ve got 🥰

We’ve had a fabulous review from one of our customers this morning: ‘When booking we had a hiccup between availability on PitchUp and the website so we called the site direct and spoke to Rosie - nothing was too much bother, she was on her own and dealing with lots of check ins but promised to call me back. She did and all was sorted, PitchUp said we could only stay 2 nights but had seen 5 available - BOOK DIRECT! Arrived on Tuesday to a fab welcome from Amy, professional, helpful but above all personable and the welcome was definitely genuine. Facilities have always been spotless. Amy, Rosie and Dave so friendly, always around and care that you are enjoying your stay. We’d already decided we were coming back but tonight Rosie was ‘above and beyond’ - I walked past reception to wash up pots, the door was open so shouted hello, Rosie noticed I had a lot in my hands, asked if all okay which I said yes but she came out from her desk to try and help / open the washing up room door - why? Cos that’s the way things are done at Upper Hurst Farm - they care way beyond the bank balance, they care about the site, the cleanliness but above all they care about their guests. CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH - SEE YOU AGAIN, WE ARE DOING A DEF ARNIE SCHWARZENEGGER - we will be back 😁😘’ It’s always so rewarding to hear feedback like this as we all put so much love into the site. As a lot of you know, my mum (Sue) built this site and she’s done an amazing job of laying the foundations over the last 10 years. However, without our amazing team of staff, carrying on mum’s legacy would be simply impossible. Our new wardens - Dave and Rosie - go above and beyond to care for the site and to care for our customers. They are always so helpful and they’ve really understood what our ethos is all about. We also have an incredible team of cleaners behind the scenes who clean our holiday cottage and yurt to the highest standard. Thank you to our guests, our wonderful staff and my mum (of course) for making Upper Hurst Farm an incredible place to stay and an amazing business to run. See you soon ❤️

We’ve been busy again… 😆 Introducing our newest addition to the site, our glamping caravan 🚐 Perfect for friends or family who want to visit while you stay on site, or just for anyone wanting a getaway ☀️ The van is on the best pitch in the house in an elevated position, making the most of those stunning Peak District views 🏔 It has a fixed double bed with memory-foam mattress and has been lovingly renovated by Amy, Sue, Dave & Rosie ❤️ Enclosed by a hedge, privacy is available on this pitch. Sun loungers and a patio set are available, as well as a Cadac gas barbecue for al fresco dining 🍽 The van includes bed linen, towels, tea & coffee, crockery, cutlery and glassware so you just need to bring yourself and some barbecue food 😍 The van is dog-friendly but there is a cap at one dog 🐶 We’ll be introducing the van at £85 per night, but our first 5 bookings will receive a 20% discount, making the van just £68 per night! 💰 please contact us by messenger, phone or email for this offer as it’s not available on the website 😊 Availability is open from Monday 8th August but for dates before then, just send us a message and we’ll see what we can do 😆 Amy, Sue, Dave & Rosie x
